I'll be square; after the Oblivians split up I listenend to the Compulsive Gamblers and the Cool Jerks and my opinion was there; Greg, Eric and Jack are done. So, that's in the open. Well, I must say that I was very wrong. So very wrong, I've never been wrong like this I think.
A friend of mine asked me to join him to go to the Reigning Sound gig on friday 2 july in Haarlem, Holland. As I am a nice guy I agreed. So, first the Drugs got on stage and surprised me with an awesome show. Next on stage was Digger & the Pussycats and they set my mind; this is gonna be a great night. The DJ did spin some really great records and there he was; Greg Cartwright, on stage, live.
From the first second HE and HIS band took me by the throat and never let go. Great songs, great singing, great guitars, great drums, everything was great. I don't want to sound like a flower-power-dude or something, but what he did was just fan-fucking-tastic! Gotta say that I'm a big Mick Collins fan and Greg is nearly as great as Mick. He puts the soul in the garage and that's not what everybody from the garage does.
So, I bought their latest release "Too Much Guitar" on In The Red Records and I think I have to buy another one 'cause I've played it too much the last couple of days. This is the best record this year, by far.
I was not knowing, now I'm a believer, a follower, a preacher. Please follow my lead and spread the word; REINGING SOUND RULE!
